OLD TOWN CARNIVAL WEEK Grand Opening Ceremony Organised by Old Hastings Preservation Society 10.35am HASTINGS COASTAL TWIRLERS Stade Coach Park Display of twirling to start Old Town Carnival Week 10.35am ICENI BELLY DANCERS Winkle Island Display of scintillating Eastern dance 11am to 11.20am OPENING CEREMONY PROCESSION Stade Coach Park Follow the procession which starts at 11.20am from Stade Coach Park, proceeds along the seafront to the roundabout, back along the seafront to George Street, up the High Street to the top, crossing the Bourne and down All Saints Street to Winkle Island. Procession headed by the Mayor of Hastings, Cllr Maureen Charlesworth, Michael Foster DL MP, and other local dignitaries with the Carnival Queen and Princesses, Hastings Coastal Twirlers, Iceni Belly Dancers and Section 5 drummers. 12.00noon OLD TOWN CARNIVAL WEEK OPENING CEREMONY at Winkle Island Old Town Carnival Week is officially opened by the Mayor of Hastings, Cllr Maureen Charlesworth. 12.10pm CROWNING OF CARNIVAL QUEEN Lara Duke is officially crowned Carnival Queen 2008 PRESENTATION OF AWARDS FOR BEST DRESSED WINDOW IN ALL SAINTS STREET by Queen Lara and her Princesses 12.20pm The Procession sets off along Rock a Nore to the Fishermens Museum, where Michael Foster DL MP, raises the flag to celebrate the opening of Old Town Carnival Week and visits the museum to open the exhibition ‘What’s New at the Museum’ 12.20pm HASTINGS COASTAL TWIRLERS display on Stade Coach Park 12.20pm ICENI BELLY DANCERS display of dancing on Winkle Island
