Guided Walk: The Earliest Hastings 2010 - Hastings Old Town Carnival Week

Guided Walk: The Earliest Hastings2010

The township of Hastings came into existence in the ninth century, but a thousand years before that there was probably a large and significant settlement on top of the East Hill. Discover the earliest history of Hastings, and how the town came to be where it is today (and not on the East Hill!) in a talk and guided walk around the hill by local historian Steve Peak, chairman of the Friends of the Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve, the organisers of this event. Also find out more about the Friends (www.hastingscountrypark.org.uk) and how one can join them. Steve's history of the whole Country Park is on www.hastingschronicle.com. Fee £2 (£1 going to the OHPS). Not suitable for toddlers or disabled.
