Old Hastings Preservation Society Old Town Walk FREE OLD TOWN WALKS DURING CARNIVAL WEEK Tuesday 4th August Thursday 6th August Saturday 8th August All at 2.30pm and start at the TOP of the West Hill Lift and proceed gently downhill from the top of the West Hill Lift for about 90 minutes. Join us for a fascinating tour of Hastings Old Town, the premier ancient Cinque Port, with its wealth of medieval, Tudor and later historic buildings and twittens and cat-creeps. It is a town steeped in history, going back to long before 1066 and forward beyond its front-line position in the Second World War. Find out why famous artists, authors and celebrities of their day flocked to the town. It has been said that there are more paintings of Hastings than of any other English resort! Hastings also attracted famous authors such as Byron, Keats, the Rossettis, Dickens, Lewis Carroll and Catherine Cookson.
