FREE OLD TOWN WALKS All start at 2.30pm at the TOP of the West Hill lift. These are the original, free, Old Town walks, organised and led by the Old Hastings Preservation Society's experienced volunteer guides. No booking – just turn up. The walks start at the TOP of the West Hill lift and proceeds gently downhill into and around Hastings Old Town. There are steps. Join us for a fascinating tour of Hastings Old Town, the ancient Cinque Port, with its wealth of medieval, Tudor and later historic buildings. Many are hidden in narrow passages, known as Twittens and Cat Creeps, often unseen by tourists and even by those who think they know their Hastings. Many of these buildings have intriguing histories. Find out why Hastings became the most fashionable of resorts, the town that celebrities flocked to, many settling permanently. Discover a town steeped in history, going back far beyond 1066 and forward beyond its front-line position in the Second World War. Allow 2 hours. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
