The Seaboot Race - Hastings Old Town Carnival Week

The Seaboot Race

Organised by High Street Traders

The Seaboot Race was another of Deeday White's crazy ideas, and started in 2002 to raise funds for Peter Trickett's funeral. Peter was an Old Town character, who was often seen around the Old Town wearing a top hat and carrying a stick, both covered in badges. His stick is awarded to the winner of the Seaboot Race.

Runners have to don a top hat and overlarge seaboots, race to the end of Courthouse Street, run around a lobster pot and come back again. All races are timed and the quickest man and lady are the winners.
