Old Town Walk - Old Hastings Preservation Society 2013 - Hastings Old Town Carnival Week

Old Town Walk - Old Hastings Preservation Society2013

FREE OLD TOWN WALKS DURING CARNIVAL WEEK All walks start at the TOP of the West Hill Lift and proceed gently downhill, taking about 90 minutes. Join us for a fascinating tour of Hastings Old Town, the premier ancient Cinque Port, with its wealth of medieval, Tudor and later historic buildings and twittens. Find out why famous artists, authors and celebrities of their day flocked to the town. It has been said that there are more paintings of Hastings than of any other English resort! Hastings also attracted famous authors such as Byron, Keats, the Rossettis, Dickens, Lewis Carroll and Catherine Cookson. It is a town steeped in history, going back to long before 1066 and forward beyond its front-line position in the Second World War. Although there is no charge for these walks, OHPS welcomes donations to the charity. Student groups must pre-book on 01424 420555 or email walks@ohps.org.uk. Steps make this unsuitable for wheelchairs.
